FORTHCOMING EVENTS IN THE CATHEDRAL

The Cathedral is noted for its fine acoustics, a feature remarked upon by many of the performers who appear here. A programme of concerts and choral perfomances runs through the year and details of planned events can be found on this page.

2010

Tuesday, 3rd August at 7.30pm - an Organ/Trumpet Recital will be given by Johnny Bradburn, Music Director and Organist at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Pinehurst, North Carolina, and his friend Dr. Edward Bach, Trumpet, who is a Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina. Dr. Bach is also the leader of the Market Street Brass, the resident faculty brass quintet. Johnny recently gave a similar recital in the Cathedral with another golfing friend on the trombone; like that one, this is a recital which should not be missed.

Saturday, 18th September at 7.30pm - Recital by Edinburgh Duo comprising Feargus Hetherington (violin) and Will Pickvance (piano). The programme will include some Scottish gems from the misty realms of time by Edinburgh composers of genius, sonatas by Mozart and Schumann as well as their own arrangements of show tunes, including some jazz items.

Friday, 15th October at 7.30pm - As part of the Women's History Scotland Conference being hosted by the UHI Centre for History in Dornoch, a free public lecture will be given in the Cathedral when the main speaker will be Dr. Stana Nenadic of Edinburgh University who will speak on Highland Gentlewomen.

Saturday, 6th November at 7.30pm - Return visit of the internationally renowned Russian Vocal Ensemble "Resurrection" who on their last performance in November 2009 met with a rapturous response from a well-nigh packed Cathedral.
